Sharon

Sharon Grant M.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons) (GDC: 113979)

Sharon Grant is a Dental Therapist (BSc Hons, Manchester 2007) with over 25 years' experience in the dental industry. As well as obtaining many dental qualifications while working as a dental nurse, she completed her Certificate in Education in 2004, along with the A1 Assessor Award and Internal Verifier awards has recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Dental Education at the University of Bedfordshire to maintain updated teaching skills.

Sharon's area of special interest is radiation protection and all aspects of dental radiography and she provides various CPD updates in this subject working with many of the UK's Dental Deaneries and NHS Trusts. Sharon completed her MSc in Dental and MaxilloFacial Radiology from Kings College, London in 2012 and has recently been awarded a Professional Certificate in Radiation Safety (pass with merit) from University College, Dublin. She has also undertaken training in CBCT techniques.

Sharon is the course tutor for the online Certificate in Dental Radiography and the internal moderator for the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing, Certificate in Implant Nursing and also for the Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing course.

Sharon W

Sharon Williams M.Ed B.Sc (Hons) (GDC: 106375)

Sharon Williams is the Sister / Manager of Oral and Facial Surgery for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust. She qualified from Liverpool as a dental nurse in 1978 and has enjoyed all aspects of dental nursing throughout her career. Post qualifications include Dental Anaesthetics, Sedation Nursing (gaining a distinction for this), Radiography, Certificate in Education and Accredited Advanced Life Support. Sharon holds a BSc (Hons) Education and Professional Studies and is due to graduate this year with a Masters degree in the same field. Her main area of expertise is within anaesthetics and sedation working for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust since 1979.

Originally the role was within Community Dental Services followed by Hospital Dental Services. Since 2000 her role has become an extended role involving all aspects of management of patients undergoing Oral and Facial surgery with general anaesthetic or intravenous sedation. This has included the setting up of a nurse led pre-operative assessment service and a lead role with the management of the departments sedation service. She also has a tutor role, training hospital dental nurses towards the NEBDN National Diploma Qualification, along with an in house training programme for the registered dental nurses the Trust employs.

Sharon is the lead on-line tutor for the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing programme.

Stacy

Stacy Topping (GDC: 200723)

Stacy achieved her NEBDN National Certificate for Dental Nurses in 2010 and since then has worked in general practice assisting in dental sedation procedures. Stacy qualified with the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing in 2015 and now works in a dental hospital environment supporting dental students during a wide variety of treatments.

Stacey achieved her Certificate in Dental Implant Nursing (2017) and is enthusiastic about assisting others in their learning and career progression. She completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training in 2016 and aims to complete the Certificate in Dental Radiography next year.

Stacy is one of our tutors for the dental sedation programmes and the internal moderator for the Certificate in Dental Implant course.

Sharon W

Nathan Morrison (GDC: 137237)

Nathan began his career as a trainee Dental Nurse at the University Dental Hospital of Wales, and successfully acquired his NVQ III in Oral Healthcare and Dental Nursing in 2005. At the same time. he gained a Foundation Certificate in Oral Health Promotion from the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health. Nathan then left for newer pastures as a qualified Dental Nurse in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Here he assists in an extensive range of surgical procedures using local anaesthetic, sedation or general anaesthesia. He has further progressed his career with post registration qualifications: the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing (2008), Certificate in Dental Radiography (2012) and additional skills in Manual Handling Trainer, Intra / Extra Oral Suture Removal, Peripheral Cannulation, Dental Impressions, Dental implants (Nobel Biocare) and he has also achieved his Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing (2017).

Nathan is an additional tutor on the Dental Sedation programmes and will be working toward his teaching qualification later this year.

Sarah

Sarah Wadiun (GDC: 200093)

Sarah Wadiun is a qualified dental nurse with an active interest in the dental nurse profession. She holds NEBDN qualifications in Dental Radiography, Oral Health Education and Dental Sedation Nursing, with additional competency certificates in Fluoride Application and Dental Impression Taking. Sarah completed the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) certificate in 2012. She is the lead tutor for the Certificate in Oral Health Education online course and the internal moderator for the Certificate in Dental Radiography. She works closely with the course tutors and dental practices to ensure our students complete the practical components of the courses to a high standard.

Emma

Emma Sheil (GDC: 147462)

Emma gained her NEBDN National Certificate in Dental Nursing in 2002, while working in general practice before moving into the community dental service in 2004. After obtaining the Certificate in Oral Health Education in 2006, Emma now provides weekly dental health sessions one on one with patients within a community dental setting.

Additional to this Emma also holds certificates in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices and utilises both skills for her own list of patients on a 3 month recall basis.

Emma has recently achieved the Certificate in Dental Radiography and now includes taking radiographs in her weekly sessions as well as oral health education, plaque indices and fluoride application. Emma is the lead tutor for the competency courses in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices and an additional tutor for the online Certificate in Oral Health Education. She has also completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training course in 2015.

Sandra

Sandra Cooper (GDC: 107943)

Sandra Cooper qualified as a dental nurse in 1991 and has since enjoyed a successful and rewarding career centred on practice management and patient orientated healthcare provision. She obtained the Certificate in Oral Health Education in 1999 and provides regular oral health sessions for patients at the dental practice. Additionally she holds competency certificates in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices, and Dental Impression Taking. Sandra is the internal moderator for the competency certificates in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices.

Sandra has extensive experience in all aspects of dental practice management including business, finance and legislation, and is relentless in keeping up to date with changes in the dental service industry. She is very well placed to provide our courses on changing legislation and working practices. She has recently completed the First Steps: Teaching and Learning in Higher Education programme (2015).

Stacey McMonagle

Stacey McMonagle (GDC: 235712)

Stacey gained the Certificate in Oral Health Promotion Level 2 in June 2010 (RSPH) and qualified as a dental nurse in 2012 via the NEBDN National Diploma. Her main area of interest is orthodontics although she now works in general practice. Since qualification she has gone on to gain her Certificate of Competency in Impression Taking and the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification in 2013. She has also completed Certificates of Competency in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices to compliment her Oral Health provision. Stacey is the lead tutor for the competency course in Impression Taking and the internal moderator for the Certificate in Oral Health Education programme.

Kim Hayes

Kim Hayes (GDC: 147663)

Kim started work in general practice in 1992 and qualified with the NEBDN National Certificate for Dental Nurses in 1997. She went on to work in an orthodontic practice where she found her interest in orthodontics. She obtained the Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing (NEBDN) in 2005 followed by the Impression Taking Module (also NEBDN). For the past 10 years Kim has been employed by a Lancashire based hospital working alongside clinicians specialising in all aspects of orthodontics. She holds the Certificate in Oral Health Education along with competency certificates in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices. Kim also completed her Award in Education and Teaching in July 2014 and is the lead tutor for the online Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing course and the internal moderator for the Certificate in Oral Health Education programme.

Emma

Emma Brearley (GDC: 124015)

Emma is an Orthodontic Therapist (2011) currently working in practice. She started work as a dental nurse in general practice in 2001 and went on to achieve the National Qualification for Dental Nurses in 2004. She qualified in Dental Radiography (Salford University) in 2006.

In 2007 her role as a dental nurse expanded to include working as an orthodontic nurse where her interest in orthodontics began. She qualified as an Orthodontic Therapist in 2011 and has been working full time in ever since.

Emma holds competency certificates in Fluoride Application and Plaque Indices gained with Delta Dental and gained her Level 3 Award in Education and Training in 2016.

Emma is an additional tutor for the Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing and Impression Taking programmes.

Cherry Ali

Cherry Ali (GDC: 114494)

Cherry Ali qualified as a dental nurse in 1982. Alongside general dental nursing Cherry took an active interest in management and went on to gain the BTEC Professional Certificate in Dental Practice Management in 2004.

In 2002 Cherry joined the staff at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill initially as the Senior Dental Nurse of the Dental Access Centre overseeing the day to day running of the department at East Surrey Hospital and its peripheral clinics at Caterham Dene Hospital, Dorking Hospital and Merstham Clinic. Later on her role developed and she became Senior Special Care Dental Nurse after gaining her Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing in 2008. In 2013 Cherry returned to general practice and took on a supervisory/managerial role, currently working as a practice manager.

Cherry has taken an active part in the training and development of dental nurses and holds the A1 Assessors Certificate and Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Certificate, and is an examiner with the NEBDN. Cherry is the online tutor for the Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing programme.

Melanie Sanderson

Melanie Sanderson (GDC: 238612)

Melanie started her career in dentistry in 1998, working in general practice she gained her NVQ Level 3 in Oral Health Care: Dental Nursing in 2003, she then went on to spend eight successful years working as a multi-site practice manager until she followed her heart back to dental nursing in 2012.

Since returning to the clinical aspect of dentistry she has enjoyed learning new skills including assisting in implant surgery and IV sedation. Melanie gained her NEBDN Certificate in Oral Health Education and her Qualification in Dental Radiography in 2015 following this with the NEBDN Certificate in Implant Nursing in 2016.

Melanie has huge enthusiasm for all things dental and really enjoys assisting others in developing their knowledge and understanding. She is currently undertaking a Level 3 Award in Education and Training and is the lead tutor for the Certificate in Implant Nursing online course here at Delta Dental.

Sharon W

Louise Williams (GDC: 140128)

Louise began working in general dental practice in 1994. She qualified as a Dental Nurse gaining the National Certificate in 1997. Since then she has worked in General Practice, in both the NHS and Private Sector.

Louise went on to work at Leeds Dental Hospital and in the Community setting and has since gained two post qualifications- The Certificate in Oral Health Promotion in 2000 and Certificate In Special Care Dental Nursing in 2015.

She currently works within the Maxillofacial Unit at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, assisting in surgical procedures including implant placements and she has achieved the NEBDN Certificate in Dental Implant Nursing (2017). Additionally she is also working within the Restorative Department at the hospital, assisting Consultants with the assessments and rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients.

As an additional role Louise works at a Specialist Restorative practice, assisting in complex cases and implant procedures, which she very much enjoys, she has also achieved the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (2016). Louise has joined us as an additional tutor on the Implant programme.
